My Approach

You are unique, and your therapy should be too.

For over a decade of research/training and experience working along side clients with neurodiversity, I’ve found that the greatest benefits come from a personalised approach—one that draws on a combination of therapeutic strategies tailored to the way you think, perceive, and experience the world.

Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, I work collaboratively with you to find the strategies and techniques that best fit your individual needs, strengths, and goals.

Internal Family Systems  IFS
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy  CBT and Gestalt Therapy

Internal Family Systems (IFS℠) is a compassionate and evidence-informed therapeutic approach that helps us understand the different parts of ourselves and the roles they have developed in response to the lived experiences.  The strongest trees have many large supporting roots, that go down deep into into the soil. So the parts that form inside of us develop to form a nutrient dense system.

You may notice parts of yourself that are anxious, self-critical, protective, overwhelmed, or carry painful emotions and memories. IFS recognises that these parts often develop with the intention of protecting us, even when their responses may no longer be helpful. Curiousity, acceptance and a voice is given to all parts.

CBT and Gestalt Therapy complement each other by providing different perspectives on the same patterns. CBT helps identify and understand what we think and do, while Gestalt Therapy explores the deeper emotional and experiential processes underlying those patterns. Our thoughts are not always flowing and connected, they can be disjointed, like pools of water making it difficult to explain with liner logical thinking.

Together, CBT and Gestalt Therapy they help uncover not only what is happening and how a pattern is maintained, but also what purpose the behaviour may serve and what underlying needs, emotions or experiences may be driving it. This integrated approach can support greater self-awareness, meaningful change and more flexible ways of responding.

Brainspotting is a brain-based, trauma-informed therapeutic approach that uses specific eye positions to help access and process unresolved trauma, emotional experiences and stress held within the brain and body. It can support the processing of experiences that may be difficult to access through talking alone, helping to reduce their emotional impact and promote greater wellbeing.

During a session, the therapist guides you to identify a specific eye position, or brainspot, associated with emotional or physical sensations. Maintaining focus on this spot can help access and process unresolved experiences held in the brain and body, reducing emotional distress and supporting regulation and healing. Brainspotting can be particularly helpful for trauma, anxiety, stress and other emotional difficulties.

Visual imagery can be a powerful way to access emotions that may feel blocked or difficult to express. The mind cannot always put traumatic experiences into words, and imagery can provide another way to connect with what has been experienced.

A comfort aid may also be incorporated into the session to help regulate emotional intensity, giving you greater choice, safety and control throughout the therapeutic process.

Solution Focused Life Coaching  SFLC

SFLC focuses on where you want to go, rather then focusing on the problem.  Together, we identify what you would like to be different and explore the strengths, resources and abilities you already have that can help you get there.

We also look at times when things have gone well—even briefly—to understand what was different and how those experiences can guide meaningful change.

SFLC is future-focused, hopeful and goal-oriented, helping you develop realistic strategies that can be put into practice in your everyday life.

It is a collaborative approach that respects your expertise in your own life and focuses on building achievable, sustainable change.
